This is a great blue heron lifting off from an inland lake in Northern Michigan after searching for dinner in the shallow water.

Not prominent in this thumbnail, but quite evident in the 8 x 10 (click on photo to enlarge image), is the small hawk flying in the upper right section of the photo. Titled "Solo Flight" the photo shows the hawk flying over the morning mist on the lake.

"BALLOON"
This photo was taken in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and portrays a hot-air balloon minutes before landing in a wooded field. It has been enhanced with Photoshop. You can almost hear the air heater sending leaping flames into the belly of the balloon.
